Pakistan Poised for Progress with Saudi Aramco’s $10 billion “Oil City” in Gwadar

It was recently reported that Pakistan will indeed begin plans for a significant refinery complex to be built in Balochistan’s Gwadar district.  Plans for this $10 billion refinery are expected to be completed by the end of 2021. Shahzeb Khan Kakar, Director-General of Gwadar Development Authority (GDA), recently specified that “The planning for the mega oil city which will host an Aramco refinery and petrochemical complex is in progress, and we will take six to seven months to complete the masterplan.” This refinery is to be built on 88,000 acres of land in the Gwadar District and will have a capacity for up to 300,000 barrels per day.  Saudi Aramco is currently anticipating a startup date
