Novatek looks east to China

Russia’s largest independent natural gas producer, Novatek, has signed a long-term supply deal with Zhejiang Energy. Novatek and Zhejiang Energy signed a Heads of Agreement (HoA) for the supply of up to 1.0m t/y of LNG for 15 years from the 3-train, 19.8m t/y Arctic LNG 2 export plant, currently under construction on the Gydan Peninsula, with first exports expected from Train 1 in 2023. The agreement builds on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) the companies signed in October 2019, with LNG delivered to Zhejiang Energy’s current and future import terminals in China.
