Engro Contracts Honeywell UOP and W.R. Grace for Technologies at PDH/PP Complex

Engro of Pakistan recently announced it has chosen Honeywell UOP and W.R. Grace for respective technologies to be utilized at the company’s upcoming Propane Dehydrogenation and Polypropylene (PDH/PP) production facility in Karachi, Pakistan.

Honeywell will provide its proprietary C3 Oleflex™ technology for the 750,000 tons per year facility, as well as basic engineering design services, equipment, catalysts, and adsorbents.  The C3 Oleflex™ process allows the conversion of propane to propylene through catalytic dehydrogenation.

Also announced was the provision of W.R. Grace’s all gas-phase UNIPOL® PP Process Technology for the project.  No costs for either of these licensing tasks were announced at this time.

This facility is eagerly anticipated in Pakistan, where it is expected to be the first polypropylene plant built in the country and will be counted on to reduce import reliance.
