S&B Signs on to build CP Chem Hexene Plant

Chevron Philips Chemical, a joint venture of Chevron and Phillips 66, recently announced it had contracted S&B Engineers and Constructors Ltd of Houston, Texas to build its grassroots hexene plant near Old Ocean, Texas. No value was given for this contract.

Under this agreement, S&B will perform engineering and construction on this unit that will provide 266,000 tons per year of hexene from an ethylene feedstock. Hexene is a key component of polyethylene production, and this hexene plant is anticipated to start up in 2023 as polyethylene demand continues to increase around the world.
