Hyosung Adds New Polypropylene Unit in Vietnam

Hysosung of South Korea has recently started up production at the second 300,000 tons per year polypropylene unit at its site in the Ba Ria Vung Tau province of Vietnam.  The company started another identically sized polypropylene unit in March of last year.

With both units expected to reach a combined 600,000 tons per year output from a feedstock source of imported propylene, Hyosung is expected to turn its attention to its quickly approaching 600,000 tons per year propane dehydrogenation (PDH) unit nearby, which is due to start up by the end of August.

Polypropylene is a primary material in plastics manufacturing for products like packaging and automotive parts, which are expected to continue to be in high demand. This polypropylene output is begin counted on for exports to ASEAN countries like Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines as an alternative to Chinese polypropylene imports that often have additional tariffs attached.
