Gulf Coast Growth Ventures Petrochemical Project in Texas Starts Up

ExxonMobil and SABIC have jointly announced that their Gulf Coast Growth Ventures (GCGV) project in San Patricio County, Texas has begun its operations.  The ownership interests in this petrochemical complex are evenly divided between the two companies, with ExxonMobil serving as site operator.

The GCGV project has commenced operations just ahead of schedule as the complex has been designed to meet the rapidly growing demand for petrochemical products needed for the manufacturing of packaging, construction materials, clothing, coolants, and other production types. GCGV is comprised of a 1.8 MMtpy ethane steam cracker, two polyethylene units with a combined capacity for 1.3 MMtpy, and a monoethylene glycol unit with a capacity for 1.1 MMtpy.
