Bakken Pushes Forward, but Still Needs More Pipelines
P&GJ Staff Report Perhaps the biggest news to come from the oil-rich Bakken region during the year was the recent announcement by Dallas, Texas-based Energy Transfer that it wants to double the volume on its Dakota Access pipeline to 1.1 MMbpd. The 1,172-mile pipeline, which begins in North Dakota and travels through Iowa before terminating at a hub in central Illinois, would require upgrades where the Dakota Access links to midwestern pipelines, as well as construction of a series of pump stations along the route.
