Plug Power selected by Fertiglobe's Green Hydrogen consortium to deliver 100MW electrolyzer for Green Ammonia

Plug Power Inc. a leading provider of turnkey hydrogen solutions for the global green hydrogen market, today announces it has been selected by Fertiglobe the strategic partnership between OCI NV and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Scatec ASA, the Sovereign Fund of Egypt and Orascom Construction, as the technology provider for a 100 megawatts electrolyzer to produce green hydrogen as feedstock for up to 90,000 tons of green ammonia production at EBIC in Ain Sokhna, Egypt.

Air Liquide and BASF welcome support from European Innovation Fund for joint CCS project

Air Liquide and BASF are planning to develop the world’s largest cross-border Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) value chain. Investment secured for Whitelee Green hydrogen facility

The Green Hydrogen for Scotland partnership has secured £9.4m of funding through the Storage at Scale competition run by The Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). Greg Hands, Minister of State for Business, Energy and Clean Growth, announced the funding today at ScottishPower’s Whitelee windfarm where the 20MW hydrogen production and storage facility will be built.

Neste to receive funding from the EU Innovation Fund to develop its Porvoo refinery through green hydrogen production and carbon capture & storage

The EU Innovation Fund has given a positive grant decision of EUR 88 million funding to Neste’s green hydrogen and CO2 capture & storage project, which aims to quickly and efficiently reduce greenhouse gas emissions at the Porvoo refinery in Finland. The project introduces carbon capture and storage (CCS) and electrolysis solutions that allow decarbonisation of production at the refinery. The project is currently in the feasibility phase.

Talos Energy and Freeport LNG to develop Carbon Capture and Sequestration project on Texas Gulf Coast

Talos Energy Inc. and Freeport LNG Development, L.P. today announced that the companies have executed a letter of intent to develop a carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) project, the Freeport LNG CCS project (FLNG CCS), immediately adjacent to Freeport LNG's natural gas pretreatment facilities located near Freeport, Texas, on the Gulf Coast, approximately 60 miles southwest of Houston, Texas. The companies anticipate first injection could occur by year-end 2024. Talos will be the project manager and operator and will be joined by its partner, Storegga Geotechnologies Limited, the lead developer of the Acorn CCS project in the United Kingdom.

E-Steiermark to launch Austria's first "green" hydrogen production facility to supply the industrial sector in 2022

Energie Steiermark is constructing Austria's first off-site "green" hydrogen production facility in Gabersdorf, southern Styria. The company is investing around 10 million euros in the construction of an innovative generation plant covering an area of 10,000 square metres. The plant will combine a large-scale photovoltaic system comprising 6,000 square metres of solar collectors with resources from an existing biogas plant.

Axpo plans new green hydrogen production plant in Swiss town of Brugg

Plans to build another green hydrogen facility close to its run-of-river power plant in Brugg, Switzerland were announced by Axpo today, marking the latest development in the company’s rapid expansion of its green hydrogen business. A memorandum of understanding (MOU) has been signed with local partners, confirming Axpo’s intention to deliver climate-friendly hydrogen to filling stations in the region. The project will make an important contribution to decarbonisation in the Swiss mobility sector.

CNG Fuels to host hydrogen trials for HGVs to decarbonise UK fleets and prepare customers for a multi-fuel future

UK’s leading supplier of alternative low-carbon fuels for HGVs to facilitate hydrogen trials across its UK refuelling network from mid 2022 to prepare customer fleets for a multi-fuel future. The company has formed ‘HyFuels’ to pioneer new hydrogen technology and meet customers’ growing fuel-mix needs. The company will allocate 100 acres of its land portfolio to public access hydrogen HGV refuelling by 2025. Renewable biomethane remains the lowest carbon and most cost-effective solution for HGVs today, cutting emissions by over 85% and lifetime costs by 30-40%. CNG Fuels is targeting a network of 60 low carbon refueling stations by 2026, supporting biomethane today and other low carbon fuels in the future as they develop.

Wood has been awarded the consenting and environmental assessment and front-end engineering design (FEED) contracts for Cadent’s HyNet North West, an innovative project that aims to unlock a lower carbon economy for the North West of England and North Wales. The industry-leading HyNet North West project has the potential to reduce carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions by 10 million tonnes a year by 2030 – the equivalent of taking 4 million cars off the road.

Tank & Rast has joined the world’s largest hydrogen filling station operator, H2 MOBILITY Deutschland, as an associated partner. In Germany, H2 MOBILITY currently operates 88 of 91 H2 filling stations in seven metropolitan areas (Hamburg, Berlin, Rhine-Ruhr, Frankfurt, Nuremberg, Stuttgart and Munich) as well as along connecting trunk roads and motorways, with 15 more stations currently under construction. To accompany the ramp-up of commercial hydrogen-powered vehicles, H2 MOBILITY is also expanding its offer for other pressure levels and refuelling quantities.

Aberdeen City Council announces bp as preferred bidder for hydrogen partnership

Aberdeen City Council on Monday, 25 October announced bp as its preferred bidder for a commercial partnership which will accelerate the city’s ambitions to become a world-class hydrogen hub. Following a robust tender process which commenced in June, the Aberdeen Hydrogen Hub concept will enable the continued development of a hydrogen economy in the city. A key part of the programme will involve the creation of Scotland’s first scalable green hydrogen production facility. Phase 1, which involves delivery of a green hydrogen facility, is targeting first operations from 2024.

Woodside’s H2Perth to make Western Australia a hydrogen powerhouse

Leading Australian energy producer Woodside, with the support of the State Government of Western Australia, has unveiled plans to establish a world-scale hydrogen and ammonia production facility at a site in southern metropolitan Perth. The proposed project, named H2Perth, would be built on approximately 130 hectares of vacant industrial land to be leased from the State in the Kwinana Strategic Industrial Area and Rockingham Industry Zone.
