 What is GEI Mapping?

 GEI Mapping (formerly Energy Web Atlas™)  serves as a valuable tool for the energy sector. By mapping and analyzing the existing energy infrastructure, decision-makers can gain insights into the geographical distribution, connectivity, and interdependencies of energy systems globally.

Mapping energy infrastructure involves gathering data from diverse sources, including governmental agencies, energy companies, and international organizations. Advanced geospatial technologies, such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), through our partnership with ESRI, are employed to visualize and analyze the data, allowing for a better understanding of energy infrastructure patterns, trends, and potential vulnerabilities.

GEI Mapping includes feature classes that cover essential aspects of the energy industry, such as global gas and oil pipeline infrastructure, downstream construction projects (including refining, petrochemicals, gas processing, and biofuels), and renewable energy projects.

In addition to the existing datasets, GEI Mapping now offers two global datasets on GEI hydrogen and GEI Carbon Capture Storage (CCS), which reflects the expanding landscape of these emerging energy resources. These datasets provide information on production sites as well as the new users of hydrogen and CCS, ensuring that users have access to the most up-to-date and comprehensive information on this evolving sector.
