McDermott wins contract for large Russian ethane cracking project

McDermott International, Ltd recently announced it had secured the upcoming phase for the large ethane cracker project from China National Chemical Engineering & Construction Corporation Seven, Ltd (CC7). In 2019, McDermott had won an extended basis engineering contract, and this has been expanded further to include an engineering and procurement early works package for the project’s anticipated critical equipment.

This ethane cracker project is to be located near Russian shores at the Gulf of Finland and is expected to be the largest ethylene integration project in the world. The GEI Data Warehouse is tracking this project as the Baltic Chemical Complex and will be comprised of two ethylene cracking trains with an annual capacity expectation of 1.4 million tons per year each. This project has an anticipated startup date in 2024.
