Howden to Supply Compressors for Shell’s Biofuel Project in Rotterdam

Howden of Scotland recently announced that it has agreed to supply compressors for the upcoming Shell owned biofuel facilities under development in the Netherlands. This complex will be at the former Pernis refinery site in Rotterdam and will be one of the largest of its kinds in Europe upon its completion.

Shell announced that it had reached a final investment decision last month to push the project forward with a capacity for 820,000 barrels per day of sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel with an anticipated startup in 2024.  The feedstock is expected to be derived from used cooking oil and animal fats initially, supplemented by sustainable vegetable oil with plans to eventually use fully recycled feedstock sources.
