Japan’s offshore ambitions

Macquarie’s Green Investment Group (GIG), a global investor and developer of green infrastructure assets, recently announced that it has formed a joint venture with Iberdrola, a global energy leader and the world’s largest wind producer. They plan to develop together a 3.3GW portfolio of offshore wind projects in Japan over the coming years, 3 fixed platform and 3 floating. These offshore wind projects had been developed by Macquarie’s renewable energy branch, Acacia Renewables, but Iberdrola will acquire them, and move forward with the projects alongside GIG in a 50/50 JV.
