UK Government Gives Vattenfall Consent

The UK Government has awarded planning consent for Vattenfall’s Norfolk Boreas offshore windfarm. The 1.8GW Norfolk Boreas is part of Vattenfall’s proposed 1,307 km sq Norfolk Zone in the southern North Sea, 47km off the UK’s east coast, alongside its sister project, Norfolk Vanguard, which is awaiting its own consent decision. Ahead of the next UK Contract for Difference (CfD) Allocation Round, closing 14 January 2022, Vattenfall is anticipating a consent decision on Norfolk Vanguard. Final Investment Decisions (FIDs) on the two projects would only then be taken if both projects are successful in the CfD process.
