New York's First Offshore Foray

The US Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) has issued a Record of Decision, setting the stage for New York’s first offshore windfarm to begin construction. South Fork Wind, a 12-turbine, 132MW, 50/50 joint venture between Orsted and Eversource is on track to be fully permitted by early 2022, with operations due to begin by the end of 2023. Onshore construction will start first on the project 35 miles east of Montauk Point, with site preparation work beginning as early as January 2022.
