Darling and Valero’s Diamond Green Diesel Set to Begin Construction in Texas

Valero recently stated that it has approved construction at its 50/50 joint venture project with Darling known as the Diamond Green Diesel (DGD) renewable diesel project to be built onsite at Valero’s Port Arthur, Texas refinery complex.

The DGD renewable diesel facility in Port Arthur has been designed for a capacity of 470 million gallon of renewable diesel with an expectation to begin operations in the latter half of 2023.  Once online, this is expected to bring DGD’s total annual production capacity up to approximately 1.2 billion gallons of renewable diesel.  Valero’s Chairman and CEO Joe Gorder stated that “We expect low-carbon fuel policies to continue to expand globally and drive demand for renewable fuels, and to that end, we are applying our liquid fuels expertise to continue to expand our long-term competitive advantage in low-carbon transportation fuels with the expansion of DGD.”
