Renewable Diesel Project Picks up Support in Louisiana

Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards and PBF Chalmette Refinery Manager Steven Krynski recently jointly announced that the concept of a renewable refinery conversion from an idled refinery unit at the Chalmette complex has begun the study process of progressing this renewable project.

PBF Energy is willing to make a capital investment of $500 million for the retrofitting of this unused hydrocracker that has been idle for over a decade.  This project would produce renewable diesel from a feedstock of soybean oil, corn oil and animal fats if it does go forward.  PBF hopes to make a final investment decision by the end of the year once tax incentives are fully clarified by the local government.
