Diamond Green Diesel Expansion project in Louisiana Nears Startup

Valero announced in its third quarter results presentation that its 50/50 joint venture (Valero and Darling Ingredients) renewable diesel project in Norco, Louisiana had completed construction and was in the process of starting up production.

The Diamond Green Diesel expansion project, also known as DGD 2, will add 400 million gallons per year to the existing facilities near the St. Charles refinery.  Once this expansion is online, the total capacity for renewable diesel at the facility will reach 690 million gallons per year. This facility also has the capacity for 30 million gallons annually of renewable naphtha. The Diamond Green facilities produces renewable fuels from a feedstock comprised of recycled animal fats, used cooking oil and inedible corn oil.
