Large Nigerian Refinery Due Online by End of 2022

The 650,000 barrel per day Dangote refinery in Nigeria is currently going through test runs for a full startup in the second half of 2022, according to Dangote company officials.  Precommissioning for some production units began late last year.

Dangote Group President Aliko Dangote recently stated that “Mechanical work on the refinery is complete and hopefully before the end of third quarter we should be in the market," and that ''The plant will start with a processing capacity of 540,000 b/d. Full production can start maybe, by the end of the year or beginning of 2023.''

Nigeria has been extremely reliant on fuel imports for some time now, and this multibillion-dollar project is being counted to make the country reduce this reliance while national refining has been nearly dormant in years past due to refining inefficiency.
