5/15/2024
In a ceremony from May 2024, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia AL-Sudani announced the signing of a contract for China National Chemical Engineering Company (CNCEC) for the construction of the upcoming Al-Faw refinery project.
The Al-Faw refinery project is part of the Iraq government’s goal to increase refining in the country and to produce petroleum-based products locally. Mr. Al-Sudani has made this project a priority and that CNCEC should complete this project with urgency.
Phase one of Al-Faw will be this 300,000 barrel per day refinery for both domestic and international markets, and a potential second phase would be based around a 3 million ton per year petrochemical complex.
