Solar power in charge across South Australia
In October, the Australian state of South Australia reported that for one hour on the eleventh of the month, 100 percent of its electricity was generated by solar power. South Australia being the largest jurisdiction in the world to do so. The power generated came from 77 percent rooftop systems and the remaining 23 percent from the states utility-scale solar projects. During the same period other forms of electricity were being generated from gas and wind projects in the state. The excess power was stored in batteries and then sent to Victoria via the Heywood interconnector, a 275 kV overhead electricity transmission line between the two states.
