Largest yet for the Philippines

Siemens Gamesa has secured an order to supply, install and commission 32 turbines in the Philippines. The 160MW Balaoi & Caunayan windfarm in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, will be the largest in the country when commissioned in 2022. The 190-million-euro project is being developed by Asian renewable energy companies, UPC Renewables and AC Energy. The Philippines has set a target of 35% for renewable energy installations by 2030, but according to International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) data, a total of 442.9MW has been commissioned so far, all of it onshore.
