KIPIC Begins Initial Phase of Al Zour Refinery

Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Co (KIPIC) has begun first phase operations at the Al-Zour refinery, according to state news agency (KUNA) in November 2022.

This refinery is designed to have a processing capacity of 615,000 barrels per day when it reaches its full capacity in 2023. KIPIC Chief Executive Waleed al Bader stated that this refinery will be "a vital outlet for the disposal of heavy Kuwaiti oil and provides refined products for export in global markets with standard specifications".

The Al Zour refinery has been repeatedly delayed over the years, but is now poised to deliver on its plans and is expected to be Kuwait's largest integrated complex.
