Pavilion Energy Trading & Supply Pte. Ltd., QatarEnergy and Chevron U.S.A. Inc today announced they have jointly published a quantification and reporting methodology to produce a statement of greenhouse gas emissions (SGE) for delivered LNG cargoes.

World’s First Carbon Removal Plant Converting Wood Waste to Hydrogen

Climatetech innovator Mote announced today it is establishing its first facility to convert wood waste into hydrogen fuel while capturing, utilizing, and sequestering carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions resulting from its process. It’s estimated that more than 500 million metric tons of wood and agricultural waste are generated every year in the U.S., which today is either disposed of via natural decay, landfills, or open-air burn, all of which return carbon to the atmosphere. With the engineering work of their first facility underway, Mote expects to produce approximately seven million kilograms of carbon-negative hydrogen and remove 150,000 metric tons of CO2 from the air annually. That’s equivalent to removing 32,622 cars off the road. Mote expects to start hydrogen production starting as soon as 2024.

Cheniere and Foran Energy Group Sign Long-Term LNG Sale and Purchase Agreement

Cheniere Energy, Inc. announced today that its subsidiary, Cheniere Marketing International, LLP, has entered into a binding 20-year liquefied natural gas sale and purchase agreement with Foran Energy Group Co., Ltd. Talos Energy Inc. and Freeport LNG Development, L.P. today announced that the companies have executed a letter of intent to develop a carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) project, the Freeport LNG CCS project (FLNG CCS), immediately adjacent to Freeport LNG's natural gas pretreatment facilities located near Freeport, Texas, on the Gulf Coast, approximately 60 miles southwest of Houston, Texas. The companies anticipate first injection could occur by year-end 2024. Talos will be the project manager and operator and will be joined by its partner, Storegga Geotechnologies Limited, the lead developer of the Acorn CCS project in the United Kingdom.
