Scotland's future is offshore

The Crown Estate Scotland launched ScotWind, a round of seabed leasing for offshore wind. The 10GW first cycle was opened following the publication of the Sectoral Marine Plan for Offshore Wind Energy by Marine Scotland, which outlines the areas most suitable for development. This will enable registered developers to apply for seabed rights to build the next generation of offshore wind farms in Scotland. The Scottish Government aims to generate 50% of Scotland’s overall energy consumption from renewable sources by 2030, with an ambitious target of net zero emissions by 2045. Offshore wind has a key role to play in meeting these targets. There are currently three major offshore wind farms
