ExxonMobil, SGN, Green Investment Group sign MoU to explore potential for Southampton Hydrogen hub
SGN, Macquarie’s Green Investment Group (GIG) and Esso Petroleum Company, Limited (an ExxonMobil affiliate) announced today that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore the use of hydrogen and carbon capture to help reduce emissions in the Southampton industrial cluster. Southampton has one of the largest industrial sectors in the United Kingdom, and is both a critical element of the country’s energy supply chain and an important gateway for trade in global markets.

Fortescue Future Industries and AGL Energy aim to repurpose coal-fired power plant sites to generate green hydrogen

Strohm and Siemens Gamesa collaborate for offshore wind-to-hydrogen infrastructure
Strohm, the world's first and leading manufacturer of fully bonded, Thermoplastic Composite Pipe (TCP), has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, the global market leader in offshore wind. The collaboration will focus on developing hydrogen transfer solutions that improve the decentralized green hydrogen concept, whereby green hydrogen is generated in each wind turbine generator and transported to shore by a subsea pipe infrastructure. In this concept power cables are replaced by a pipe infrastructure, storing and transferring hydrogen. Siemens Gamesa has a technical advisory role.

Iberdrola and H2 Green Steel sign 2.3 billion euros green hydrogen deal
Iberdrola takes another step towards decarbonisation. Iberdrola and H2 Green Steel have signed an agreement to build a green hydrogen plant with an installed capacity of 1,000 MW and an estimated investment of 2.3 billion euros. The new plant will power with clean fuel a direct steel reduction furnace with a capacity to produce around 2 million tonnes per year of pure green steel, with a 95% reduction in CO2 emissions.
bp plans major green hydrogen project in Teesside
bp today confirmed it is planning a new large-scale green hydrogen production facility in the North East of England that could deliver up to 500Mwe (megawatt electrical input) of hydrogen production by 2030. To be developed in multiple stages, HyGreen Teesside is expected to match production to demand and build on experience to drive down costs. bp is aiming to start production by 2025, with an initial phase of some 60MWe of installed hydrogen production capacity. A final investment decision on the project is expected in 2023.

Air Liquide and BASF welcome support from European Innovation Fund for joint CCS project
Air Liquide and BASF are planning to develop the world’s largest cross-border Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) value chain. Investment secured for Whitelee Green hydrogen facility
The Green Hydrogen for Scotland partnership has secured £9.4m of funding through the Storage at Scale competition run by The Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). Greg Hands, Minister of State for Business, Energy and Clean Growth, announced the funding today at ScottishPower’s Whitelee windfarm where the 20MW hydrogen production and storage facility will be built.
Neste to receive funding from the EU Innovation Fund to develop its Porvoo refinery through green hydrogen production and carbon capture & storage
The EU Innovation Fund has given a positive grant decision of EUR 88 million funding to Neste’s green hydrogen and CO2 capture & storage project, which aims to quickly and efficiently reduce greenhouse gas emissions at the Porvoo refinery in Finland. The project introduces carbon capture and storage (CCS) and electrolysis solutions that allow decarbonisation of production at the refinery. The project is currently in the feasibility phase.

Talos Energy and Freeport LNG to develop Carbon Capture and Sequestration project on Texas Gulf Coast
Talos Energy Inc. and Freeport LNG Development, L.P. today announced that the companies have executed a letter of intent to develop a carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) project, the Freeport LNG CCS project (FLNG CCS), immediately adjacent to Freeport LNG's natural gas pretreatment facilities located near Freeport, Texas, on the Gulf Coast, approximately 60 miles southwest of Houston, Texas. The companies anticipate first injection could occur by year-end 2024. Talos will be the project manager and operator and will be joined by its partner, Storegga Geotechnologies Limited, the lead developer of the Acorn CCS project in the United Kingdom.
E-Steiermark to launch Austria's first "green" hydrogen production facility to supply the industrial sector in 2022
Energie Steiermark is constructing Austria's first off-site "green" hydrogen production facility in Gabersdorf, southern Styria. The company is investing around 10 million euros in the construction of an innovative generation plant covering an area of 10,000 square metres. The plant will combine a large-scale photovoltaic system comprising 6,000 square metres of solar collectors with resources from an existing biogas plant.
Axpo plans new green hydrogen production plant in Swiss town of Brugg
Plans to build another green hydrogen facility close to its run-of-river power plant in Brugg, Switzerland were announced by Axpo today, marking the latest development in the company’s rapid expansion of its green hydrogen business. A memorandum of understanding (MOU) has been signed with local partners, confirming Axpo’s intention to deliver climate-friendly hydrogen to filling stations in the region. Shropshire’s potential for hydrogen vehicle refuelling hub
