Technip Energies Awarded a Contract for Juhua’s Greenfield Chemical Complex in China

Technip Energies has been awarded a contract by Ningbo Juhua Chemical & Science Co., Ltd. (Juhua) for a 1,3-propanediol (PDO) plant with a capacity of 72 kta(1) and a 150 kta polytrimethylene terephthalate (PTT) plant in Ningbo, Zhejiang, China

CropEnergies to build renewable ethyl acetate plant near Zeitz

CropEnergies AG, Mannheim, Germany, will build a plant for the production of renewable ethyl acetate from sustainable ethanol. Foreseen location is the Zeitz Chemical and Industrial Park, Elsteraue, Germany. The supervisory board of CropEnergies has given the green light to the investment into what will be the first production plant in the new biobased chemicals business. The total investment for the new production facility will be between EUR 120 and EUR 130 million, which will be paid from the existing cash position. CropEnergies is currently engaged in the detailed and construction engineering. Ground breaking is to take place early in 2024 and the commissioning is scheduled latest for summer 2025.

Aramco JV HAPCO to Commence Construction of Major Refinery and Petrochemical Complex in China

Aramco and joint venture partners NORINCO Group and Panjin Xincheng Industrial Group plan to start construction of a major integrated refinery and petrochemical complex in northeast China.

McDermott Awarded EPsCm Contract from Slovnaft

McDermott has been awarded an engineering, procurement services and construction management (EPsCm) contract from Slovnaft, a.s., for the steam cracker intensification off-gas processing project at its plant in Bratislava, Slovakia.

Technip Energies has been Awarded a Contract by CNOOC and Shell Petrochemicals Company Ltd. (CSPC) for the Huizhou Phase III ethylene cracker located in Huizhou, Guangdong Province, China.

Technip Energies is providing the proprietary technology and process design for CSPC’s 1,600 KTA(1) ethylene plant. This liquid ethylene cracker pioneers the use of a low CO2 furnace design and electrification of major compressors. The plant is anticipated to have 20% lower CO2 emissions than a similar conventional facility and will be able to maximize benefit from the rapidly decarbonizing power grid for future CO2 emission reduction.

Emerson Selected to Automate Golden Triangle Polymers Facility

Global technology and software leader Emerson (NYSE: EMR) will provide automation technologies, software and analytics from its Plantweb™ digital ecosystem for the Golden Triangle Polymers Project, a world-scale integrated polymers facility on the Texas Gulf Coast. The total installed cost of the project is expected to be $8.5 billion and is a joint venture between Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP and an indirect subsidiary of QatarEnergy. Operations are expected to begin in 2026.

Dow Awards Fluor Front-End Engineering and Design for its Proposed Net-Zero Ethylene and Derivatives Complex in Canada

Fluor (NYSE: FLR) announced today that it was awarded a reimbursable contract by Dow to provide front-end engineering and design (FEED) and engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) services for the world’s first net-zero carbon emissions (scope 1 and 2 carbon dioxide emissions) ethylene cracker and derivatives complex in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada. Fluor will book the initial FEED award in the first quarter and anticipates the additional EPCM scope will be awarded throughout 2023 pending a final investment decision by Dow’s Board of Directors.

PetroChina again selects differentiated LyondellBasell Polyethylene (PE) technology

LyondellBasell announced today that PetroChina Jilin Petrochemical Company will again license LyondellBasell’s polyethylene technology at their facility located in Jilin City, Jilin Province, P.R. of China. The newly licensed technology will comprise of LyondellBasell’s leading high-pressure Lupotech process technology which will be used for both a 100 kiloton per year (KTA) Autoclave and a 300 KTA Tubular line. Both production trains will produce mainly low-density polyethylene (LDPE) with ethylene vinyl acetate copolymers (EVA). Furthermore, an additional 400 KTA Hostalen “Advanced Cascade Process” (ACP) line for the production of high density polyethylene (HDPE) will be built at the same time.

INEOS & LOTTE to build new 250,000 tonne Vinyl Acetate Monomer (VAM) Plant in Ulsan, South Korea

LOTTE INEOS Chemical has today announced plans to increase VAM production capacity from the current 450,000 tonnes to 700,000 tonnes with the addition of a third VAM plant. The new plant is scheduled to start-up by the end of 2025.
