Fluor Awarded Contract for Imperial Renewable Diesel Project in Canada

Fluor Corporation (NYSE: FLR) was awarded a reimbursable front-end engineering and detailed design, engineering and procurement services contract for Imperial as the company progresses plans to develop a world-class renewable diesel complex at its Strathcona refinery near Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The new complex is expected to be the largest renewable diesel production facility in Canada and will produce approximately 20,000 barrels of renewable diesel per day from locally sourced feedstocks.

Guyana has recently called out for proposals to design, finance and construct a grassroots 30,000 barrel per day refinery, which would be the first one in the country’s history. Guyana President Mohamed Irfaan Ali remarked during a public event that “In two months’ time, we will be receiving the submissions from those who are interested in building this”.

MV Petrom, the largest integrated energy company in South-Eastern Europe, invests approximately EUR 130 million in the next 3 years to build a new unit of aromatic products at Petrobrazi refinery. The unit will function at modern BAT (Best Available Technology) operating standards with low environmental impact. The processing capacity of the new unit is about 1,500 tons/day of reformed gasoline.

Prairie Energy Partners Ponders Texas or Oklahoma for New Refinery Site

Prairie Energy Partners LLC, a subsidiary of Southern Rock Energy Partners LLC of Texas, has begun the process of site selection for its proposed $5.6 billion refinery complex, which is expected to be a next generation complex with a focus on decarbonization technologies. According to the Texas operator, the sites being considered are in Victoria County, Texas and Lincoln County, Oklahoma.

Fluor Awarded Two Contracts for the BASF Zhanjiang Verbund Site Project in China

Fluor announced that the company was awarded two reimbursable engineering, procurement and construction management contracts by BASF for the ethylene oxide/ethylene glycol and infrastructure, offsites and utilities packages as part of the company’s new Verbund program in Zhanjiang, Guangdong province, China. The contract value to Fluor is more than $2 billion and was booked in the third quarter of 2022.

L&T Wins (Large*) Contract from Indian Oil Corporation

IOCL is implementing the Panipat Refinery Expansion (P-25) Project to enhance refining capacity from 15 MMTPA to 25 MMTPA to meet the growth in demand of petroleum products and to increase their profitability and competitiveness in the long run. The engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPCC) contract is for setting up a Residue Hydrocracker Unit (RHCU) for this P-25 Project. The RHCU is licensed by Axens (France) with a capacity of 2.5 MMTPA and will upgrade the Vacuum Residue (VR) to high-value commercial products (mainly diesel). The contract is awarded through international competitive bidding on a Lump Sum Turnkey (LSTK) basis.

BASF confirms final phase of MDI expansion at Geismar Verbund site

BASF is moving forward with the final phase of the expansion project for the methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) plant at its Verbund site in Geismar, Louisiana. With this third step of its multiphase capacity expansion, BASF will increase production capacity to 600,000 metric tons per year by the middle of the decade and support the ongoing growth of its North American MDI customers. The company kicked off the expansion project in 2018 with a staggered approach consisting of three investment phases. The investment in the final expansion phase from 2022 to 2025 amounts to $780 million.

BASF Gives Final Approval for the Construction of the Zhanjiang Verbund Site

BASF SE today gave final approval for the construction of the planned Verbund site in Zhanjiang in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong. The project is on schedule. The focus will now be on building the core of the Verbund, which includes a steam cracker and several downstream plants for the production of petrochemicals and intermediates, among others. BASF will invest up to €10 billion by 2030 to build the new Verbund site.
