Cushing chosen as new site for Southern Rock Energy Partners Refinery

Southern Rock Energy Partners, LLC (SREP) is developing a 250,000 BPD next-generation, full conversion crude refinery in Oklahoma. The refinery complex will reduce and eliminate 95% of greenhouse gas emissions while producing approximately 91.25 million barrels or 3.8325 billion gallons annually of cleaner transportation fuels including gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel from crudes sourced domestically from the Anadarko, Permian, Denver and Julesburg, and Bakken Basins. The project will be constructed over a 36-month period beginning in 2024 with commercial operations beginning in 2027.

Honeywell today announced that Sichuan Jinshang Environmental Protection Technology Co. (JSRE) will use Honeywell EcofiningTM technology to produce nearly 300,000 tons per year (approximately 6,000 barrels per day) of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) at its newly planned facility in Suining, Sichuan Province, China. This project will promote the accelerated adoption of SAF, and, once completed, the facility is expected to be one of the largest SAF plants in China.

KBR’s ROSE® Low Carbon Technology Selected for Mumbai Refinery

KBR announced today it has been awarded a contract by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) to implement its market-leading supercritical solvent deasphalting (SDA) technology, ROSE®, at HPCL’s Mumbai Refinery. Under the terms of the contract, KBR will provide technology licensing, basic engineering, training, start-up support and proprietary equipment to HPCL. The new 850,000 tonnes per annum unit will be integrated with HPCL’s existing facility.

Par Pacific Holdings today announced it plans to invest approximately $90 million to develop the state’s largest liquid renewable fuels manufacturing facility at its Kapolei refinery. The project relies on the Kapolei refinery’s highly experienced operating team, existing tank storage and related logistics, as well as available hydrogen from current refining operations, a key requirement for low-carbon renewable fuels production. As a result, this project is expected to be completed for less than $1.50 per gallon of annual operating capacity and is expected to be commissioned in 2025. The unit can produce up to 60% sustainable aviation fuel in a first step toward decarbonizing Hawaii’s significant air travel market.

Petrojet Has Signed an EPC Contract with Luberef for Production Facility in Yanbu in KSA

Imperial Approves $720 million for Largest Renewable Diesel Facility in Canada

Imperial said today it will further help Canada achieve its net zero goals by investing about $720 million (USD $560 million) to move forward with construction of the largest renewable diesel facility in the country. The project at Imperial’s Strathcona refinery near Edmonton is expected to produce more than one billion litres of renewable diesel annually primarily from locally sourced feedstocks and could help reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the Canadian transportation sector by about 3 million metric tons per year, as determined in accordance with Canada’s Clean Fuel Regulation. Regulatory approval for the project is expected in the near term.

New PEMEX Refinery Expected to Start Crude Processing in July

The Pemex owned Dos Bocas refinery, also known as the Olmeca refinery, will begin its crude oil processing in July 2023, according to recent comments from Energy Minister Rocio Nahle. This initial capacity will be for 170,000 barrels per day, with a peak expectation of 340,000 barrels per day.
