Britain’s gas grid to be ready to deliver hydrogen across the country from 2023, energy networks announce
Energy Networks Association (ENA) has published Britain’s Hydrogen Blending Delivery Plan, setting out how all five of Britain’s gas grid companies will meet the Government’s target for Britain’s network of gas pipes to be ready to deliver 20% hydrogen to homes and businesses acround the country from 2023, as a replacement for up to a fifth of the natural gas currently used. It will also mean that Britain’s fleet of gas-fired power plants will be able to use blended hydrogen to generate cleaner electricity.
Enbridge Gas announces the launch of the first-of-its-kind hydrogen-blending project in North America
Enbridge Gas Inc., in partnership with Cummins Inc. and with support from Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC), the Canadian Gas Association (CGA) and NGIF Capital Corporation, is thrilled to announce that the first-of-its-kind in North America hydrogen-blending project is now fully operational and successfully serving the Markham community. Hydrogen blending refers to injecting clean hydrogen into the delivered natural gas to reduce its carbon footprint.
Ørsted enters into collaboration with Liquid Wind in green fuels with investment in large-scale e-methanol project in Sweden
Ørsted has entered into an agreement with Liquid Wind AB to acquire a 45% ownership interest in Liquid Wind AB's e-methanol project FlagshipONE. FlagshipONE is a late-stage development project and could become the world's first large-scale e-methanol project. Liquid Wind AB plans to establish a number of facilities around Sweden to phase out fossil fuels in the shipping sector, of which FlagshipONE will be the first.
Commencement of PoC for Green Hydrogen Production, Transportation and Utilization in Australia and Indonesia
Marubeni Corporation (hereinafter, “Marubeni”) will start production of economical green hydrogen (hereinafter, “green hydrogen”) in South Australia (hereinafter, “SA”), transportation of hydrogen by metal hydride tanks to Indonesia and utilization of hydrogen through fuel cells (hereinafter, the “PoC” or Proof of Concept). The PoC has been adopted under the Japanese Ministry of the Environment’s “Financing Programme for Joint Crediting Mechanism Model Projects (hereinafter, “JCM”) in FY2021".

PAO NOVATEK announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary, NOVATEK Gas & Power Asia Pte. Ltd., and ENN LNG (Singapore) Pte. Ltd., a subsidiary of ENN Natural Gas Co., Ltd. signed a long-term LNG sale and purchase agreement for the LNG produced from the Arctic LNG 2 project.

PAO NOVATEK announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary, NOVATEK Gas & Power Asia Pte. Ltd., and Zhejiang Energy Gas Group Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of the Zhejiang Provincial Energy Group signed a long-term LNG sale and purchase agreement for the LNG produced from the Arctic LNG 2 project.

thyssenkrupp to install 200 MW green hydrogen facility for Shell in port of Rotterdam
thyssenkrupp Uhde Chlorine Engineers has signed a supply contract with Shell for the large-scale project ‘Hydrogen Holland I’ in the port of Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Under the contract, thyssenkrupp Uhde Chlorine Engineers will engineer, procure and fabricate a 200 MW electrolysis plant based on their large-scale 20 MW alkaline water electrolysis module. First construction work for the electrolysers will likely begin in Spring 2022. Shell’s final investment decision to build the ‘Holland Hydrogen I’ is expected in 2022, after which the intended start of production will be in 2024

Go-Ahead selects Air Products as partner for pioneering hydrogen bus fleet
The Go-Ahead Group has agreed a 15-year hydrogen supply deal with Air Products, a world leading industrial gas company, to power a fleet of fuel cell buses for deployment in the Gatwick Airport, Crawley and Horley area. The single-decker GB Kite Hydroliner buses, manufactured by Wrightbus in Northern Ireland, will be delivered in June 2022. They will be the first hydrogen powered vehicles in Go-Ahead’s fleet of more than 6,000 buses.
HIF USA to produce eFuels and green hydrogen in Houston
HIF USA will use renewable energy from the wind and a process called electrolysis to produce green hydrogen. The project will also capture CO2 and use a process of synthesis to combine the CO2 and Hydrogen to produce eFuels. The eFuel will create a way for existing infrastructure to become carbon neutral by continuously reusing and recycling the CO2

The European Commission has approved, under EU State aid rules, a EUR 900 million German scheme to support investments in the production of renewable hydrogen in non-EU countries, which will be then imported and sold in the EU. P2X Solutions receives public funding to build Finland’s first green hydrogen production plant – A great leap towards an emission-free welfare society.
P2X Solutions, a Finnish pioneer in green hydrogen and power-to-x technology, has received approximately EUR 26 million grant for new energy technology and large-scale demonstration projects from the Ministry of Employment and the Economy to build Finland’s first industrial scale green hydrogen production plant and methanation unit in Harjavalta. In addition, the Climate Fund has granted the company a capital loan of EUR 10 million. The total investment planned by P2X Solutions is approximately EUR 70 million.

World’s first offshore hydrogen storage concept developed by Tractebel and partners
Tractebel and partner companies have developed the world's first offshore infrastructure and processing facilities concept for the storage of hydrogen in offshore caverns. The design study, unveiled by Tractebel Overdick GmbH’s offshore experts, outlines an innovative solution for large-scale hydrogen storage on the high seas: a scalable offshore platform for the compression and storage of up to 1.2 million m³ of hydrogen. Underground salt caverns will be used as storage and buffer for the hydrogen produced offshore, before the gas is transported via the pipeline network to the onshore grid and finally to consumers and customers.
