CropEnergies to build renewable ethyl acetate plant near Zeitz
CropEnergies AG, Mannheim, Germany, will build a plant for the production of renewable ethyl acetate from sustainable ethanol. Foreseen location is the Zeitz Chemical and Industrial Park, Elsteraue, Germany. The supervisory board of CropEnergies has given the green light to the investment into what will be the first production plant in the new biobased chemicals business. The total investment for the new production facility will be between EUR 120 and EUR 130 million, which will be paid from the existing cash position. CropEnergies is currently engaged in the detailed and construction engineering. Ground breaking is to take place early in 2024 and the commissioning is scheduled latest for summer 2025.

HDF Energy and TRIPATRA sign an MoU to implement HyPower hydrogen-to-power projects in Indonesia

Energy Transfer to acquire Lotus Midstream in a $1.45 billion transaction
Energy Transfer LP (NYSE: ET) and Lotus Midstream LLC announced today that the parties have entered into a definitive agreement pursuant to which Energy Transfer will acquire Lotus Midstream Operations, LLC (Lotus Midstream) in a transaction valued at approximately $1.45 billion from an affiliate of EnCap Flatrock Midstream (EFM). Consideration for the transaction will be comprised of $900 million in cash and approximately 44.5 million newly issued Energy Transfer common units. Lotus Midstream owns and operates Centurion Pipeline Company LLC, an integrated, crude midstream platform located in the Permian Basin. The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2023, subject to regulatory approval and customary closing conditions.

Commercially operated Wärtsilä engine runs on 25 vol% hydrogen blend, a world first
The technology group Wärtsilä and WEC Energy Group have successfully tested the capabilities of a Wärtsilä engine running on 25 vol% hydrogen-blended fuel. The tests, which were completed in October 2022, were conducted at WEC Energy Group’s 55 MW A.J. Mihm power plant in Michigan, USA using an unmodified Wärtsilä 50SG engine. Throughout the testing period, the Wärtsilä engine continued to supply power to the grid. This is the largest commercially operated flexible balancing engine ever to run on a hydrogen fuel blend, representing therefore a world-first achievement.
