The Flint Hills Resources Pine Bend refinery is seeking bids for the construction of a large-scale solar development on the company’s property in Rosemount, Minnesota, to help meet the refinery’s electrical power needs and lower its energy costs. The 30-megawatt solar development would be among the largest of its kind in the nation where all the power is generated and consumed by a single business. The company has requested bids from select solar companies that specialize in building commercial-scale solar farms and integrating them within established operations. A decision on whether to proceed with the project is expected by mid-year 2021.

Duke Energy Renewables Acquires Pflugerville Solar Project

Duke Energy Renewables, a subsidiary of Duke Energy, is expanding its solar energy portfolio by acquiring the 144-megawatt (MWac) Pflugerville Solar project from Recurrent Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Canadian Solar Inc. The project is under construction in Travis County, Texas, and is expected to achieve commercial operation in mid-2021. The energy generated from the Pflugerville Solar project will be sold to Austin Energy under a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA).

Greenbacker Renewable Energy Company LLC Acquires Solar Project Totaling 80 MWac / 104 MWdc

Greenbacker Renewable Energy Company LLC (“GREC”) announced today that, through a wholly-owned subsidiary, it purchased a 80 MWac /104 MWdc pre-operational solar project from rPlus Energies LLC (“rPlus”). The project, Graphite Solar I LLC, is located in Carbon County, Utah and has a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (“PPA”) in place with the utility PacifiCorp on behalf of Facebook. The contract was developed under Rocky Mountain Power’s Schedule 34 green energy tariff, which allows large customers to purchase renewable energy generated on their behalf. The project supports Facebook’s goal of 100% renewable energy for its operations and is expected to reach commercial operations (“COD”) in Q4 2021.

Vopak Solar Park Eemshaven is starting construction of its solar park located in Eemshaven in the province of Groningen. The new solar park will have a capacity of approximately 25 megawatts, which equates to an average consumption of approximately 8,000 Dutch households.
